Chick Locked Into Championship Battle After Solid Outing at Memphis

Mandy Chick locked herself into the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour championship battle thanks to a solid performance at Memphis International Raceway last weekend.

"I was so excited to get to race Memphis since I haven't raced there before," she said. "My Dad ran a team there with the NASCAR Truck Series years ago, but since it was so long ago, we went into the weekend with a fresh perspective and knew we had to solidify a championship spot."

Chick battled a tight race car for the majority of the day on Sunday. She qualified 16th, but with competitors pulling out of line she started the feature on the outside of the seventh row.

Chick picked off two more positions during the feature to finish 12 th.

"We still battled with a tight race car throughout the feature, but in the end we closed the gap in points on the point leader and locked ourselves into the points championship," she said. "It speaks volumes to see how we have made progress from last year. We've been second in points all season. We want that championship."

Chick's next race with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour will be on Aug. 17 at Berlin Raceway in Marne, Mich.

"I'm really excited to go back to Berlin," she said. "We have some good notes to study from the few times that we have been there before. It's such a technical track that it'll take me a couple practice sessions to get back in the game, but we just have to keep our momentum up and have a good points weekend."
