ADAC GT Masters: Sensational podium for Carrie Schreiner

On her „home circuit“, the formula 1 track in Hockenheim/Germany the breakthrough has been made. And that even on her 21th birthday! While some weeks ago on the Nürburgring the woman from the Saarland had been among the top 10 till the last two laps in order to do a decisive slight mistake then, this time she stayed ice cold and was able to deliver her best performance in the decisive moment.

Her HCB Rutronik teammate Denis Marshall presented a brilliant performance again and put the Audi R8 LMS GT3 on the pole position in the field of over 30 cars. Also during the race, the 23-year old did his best, was leading for a long time and when being on second place behind the fastest factory Lamborghini, he handed the more than 500 hp strong race car over to his young team mate. Carrie drove a very tactically clever race where she first let pass Maxi Goetz in his AMG Mercedes and the HCB Rutronik sister car with Kelvin van der Linde behind the steering wheel, both former ADAC GT Masters Champions who were still fighting for the overall Championship.

Afterwards she controlled the remaining field with factory drivers and professionals and nearly did the same lap times as her persecutors. Only GT Masters record holder, Daniel Keilwitz, in the Zakspeed Mercedes, came closer in the last lap, but didn’t have a possibility to overtake.

Thus, the first podium on the third place was guaranteed for Carrie Schreiner. Additionally, they both won the junior competition for drivers under 25.

Afterwards, there was boundless joy. “That’s absolutely fantastic. Reaching the podium in the strongest league in GT sports cars worldwide in my first year! Only a few people had believed that I would be able to keep the pace of the top drivers in the race. Above all it was a well-deserved podium where I had to fight for, no luck. In my stint I had only lost two positions and due to Kelvin’s time penalty only one in the end. I've obviously arrived in the GT Masters finally, but I still need to improve my qualifying performance with the new Pirelli tires which are very tough to handle. That's my job for the next year. Thanks to my fantastic teammate Denis Marschall, and to my team HCB Rutronik Racing, who have always believed in me, for the great support. The winning of the overall championship of our sister car with Kelvin and Patric was then the coronation of this unforgettable weekend, "said an overjoyed Carrie Schreiner at the internal victory celebration of the team in the evening.
